You won’t believe this (well you might because of the title) but IDW Publishing and BBC Worldwide America announced the digital launch of the Doctor Who comic book series from IDW the other day.
We’re excited to bring out DOCTOR WHO comics on the PSP, as it’s a perfect comic for the game audience,” stated Jeff Webber, IDW’s director of ePublishing. “For Apple devices, while all of the issues are also available in our IDW Comics app for our regular readers, there are many ravenous DOCTOR WHO fans that may not be familiar with the comics. So we created a stand-alone DOCTOR WHO Comics app that lets us feature the Doctor at the top level of the app store, offering users worldwide a completely focused experience.
One this that blows my mind about this, is that this digital series is the first time the comics will be available to international readers. Up to this point, the comics have only been available in print in North America. The current digital series currently has over forty issues, with more constantly being added. The full catalog is available for iOS devices as a custom branded app, and are available as individual issues on the PSP.

All books purchased in this app will transfer between your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. For larger iPad images for your existing books, or to enable zoom on the iPhone, you’ll need to download new versions of your comic book library that feature higher resolution graphics allowing you to pinch or tap in to zoom (to tap out of the zoom use two fingers). Re-downloading your library is easy, delete your existing comics (or the application entirely) then go to SETTINGS> Restore In App Purchases — and every comic you have purchased in this app will begin downloading automatically.
