Play Keeneland was announced yesterday, and in conjunction with the opening day of the spring meet, the game will become playable. (Makers Mark also releases their special edition bottle, WHICH I hope to be getting as you read this!) It’s ultimately a Facebook based game, and that’s where most people will probably use it, but there is a select group, who might wish to play the game on their smart phone or tablet. For those of us that are always on the go, and want the chance to pick a quick trifecta while sitting at a stop light, I thought I’d throw this quick show and tell together.
To open up Play Keeneland on your phone, you just have to open up your mobile browser and point it towards PlayKeeneland.com, where you’re greeted to a nice clean-looking Home screen, that just feels like Keeneland with the greens and yellows.

If you notice, you have a blue button at the bottom with the infamous Facebook icon, instructing you to log in to be able to make your picks. Possibly a little too bossy for my taste, but we’ll go along with it for now.
Once you click this, you’re taken to a Facebook login page, requesting you to log in. Since Play Keeneland is a Facebook based game, you have to log into your Facebook profile to be able to play it. Really no big deal, and its nice that you don’t have to fill out any forms, just log in using your Facebook credentials and you’re good to go!

Once you log in, you’re taken back to the Home Screen. Once there, it will show you that you’re logged in at the top, and “suggests” that you add an icon on your Home Screen to use as a shortcut to come back to Play Keeneland quickly.

Once you click the button and select Add to Home Screen, you’ll be taken back to your Home Screen and you’ll have a nice new Play Keeneland icon on your home screen, sitting there waiting for you…..calling for you to come back to it!

When you’re ready to play, you can click your icon and away you go! Currently as I write this, this is the screen I’m welcomed to. So if you go in hoping to get started early on the races and see this screen, come back in a little bit. I’ve not heard a time of day the game is set to go live, but since races start in the afternoon, I’d imagine the game will go live sometime in the morning. Regardless, come back to check out my full review of Playing Keeneland next week, and enjoy one of the highlights of Kentucky, and bet on some horses, without going through the kid’s college fund.

UPDATE
The game is now live!
So now, when you log in, you’ll be welcome to the game screen below that gives you all the options you could hope for.
When go and click on “Make Your Picks” you’ll be taken to a screen that shows the line-up for the next race coming up, whatever race that might be.
As you can see, on this screen you have which race your making the selections on, as well as the odds again each horse. Just like with a 3 pick, you select which horse you think will win the race, which horse will place (2nd place) and which horse will show (3rd Place). Good luck with your picks!!
NOTE:
One quick thing I’ve noticed between the iPhone and the Facebook game screens, is that the Facebook screen doesn’t have the odds readily available next to the horses name. Honestly makes sense considering you can look all that info and more up if you’re on your computer playing on Facebook, while if you’re wanting to pick that trifecta real quick at the stop light you won’t have the latest odds readily available
**Disclaimer** As this game is free for all, I have no received any form of compensation for writing or posting anything about Play Keeneland. I simply received the press release and have taken it upon myself to write these and the upcoming posts as I simply love Keeneland and want to share the excitement with all of you. So if there is something I don’t like, don’t worry, I’ll tell ya.
