For Your Podcast Listening Pleasure: Those People & Him

I’ll admit it, I’m slowly becoming a podcast junkie.  My ratio of podcast to music albums on my iPhone is becoming more and more balanced between the two.  I travel and work a lot with headphones in (looking for suggestion on new headphones too) so I’m very particular to the audio pleasure that I receive during the day.  Lucky for me, I had a link appear in my DMs  on Twitter with a link to a new podcast, now available on iTunes: Those People & Him.

Before I give my personal comments, I’ll let them describe themselves for you:

Those People & Him was started simply because we are “those people”, at least that’s what Beans (the Him) says. We like Star Wars, comic books, zombies, and all of those things that require a little something his childhood was lacking…imagination. Join us as we wage a war against Bean’s sensibilities and try to convert him to the dark side.

Now, I’ll come out and say I would consider myself one of “those people”.  In fact, I am the only member of “those people” in my family, so I really enjoyed the back and forth between Wes and Jarrod vs. Beans.  They sound like conversations I have had or could have with my siblings or other family members.  If you’re looking for a quick rundown, TP&H has the feel of something like The Nerdist podcast, where it’s just some friends sitting around talking about whatever suits them, and the subject tends to lean towards the nerdy or geeky.  However, TP&H has a few distinct differences, including segments.  After listening to this first episode, my favorite segment is the Weekly Vice (something I’m tempted to, but trying to avoid not ripping off here on the site) where they go into something that they’re currently obsessing overy.  (Example: I’m currently obsessed with playing NFL Flick QB on my iPhone, or when I recently discovered Battlestar Gallactica on Netflix and watched the entire series within a few days.)  Its something that people who could be considered nerds or geeks do.  Obsess about something to the absolute minute detail.  If I’m interested in something, that’s me to a T.  Their conversations, their segments, are all things I very much relate to, which might be part of the reason I’m crushing on them so bad right now!  They’re just like me!!

I will say, they open up the podcast apologizing for the audio and whatnot, but I really thought anything was inconsequential and did not take away from the enjoyment of the podcast at all.  Especially since this is their first episode!  Come on guys, give yourselves a bit of leeway!!  Once they hit their stride, they’re going to be great, and they seem to be on the right path to be an extremely enjoyable podcast.  So if you’re looking for something new, laid back and enjoyable for your ears to enjoy, don’t cheat yourself, and check out Those People & Him!  (I have included a convenient link below to help expedite you to listening pleasure.)
