It’s actually surprised me all the talk that’s been going on about a Doctor Who movie lately, but here we are again, this time thanks to the man himself: Steven Moffat.
Moffat himself tweeted yesterday a short statement regarding a Doctor Who movie, which I’m sure came from getting inundated with questions about it. The tweet in question reads:
To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, start the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.
Sites like Blastr and CBR have reported on this, both saying that soon after Moffat went to Twitter, David Yates, the man who started all the talk was quoted by MTV News seemingly verifying that what was originally reported, that it would basically be a big screen reboot of the franchise. While Yates seems to be talking about the project from what he knows about it, Moffat seems to be getting more adamant that what’s being said and reported is inaccurate, again going to Twitter, and issuing a statement to a newspaper about the franchise. Basically saying that the BBC would not do that.
Seems that there are two opposing thoughts going on right now. Hopefully BBC will let the parties know which one is correct, because if this continues, we could have a time war on our hands soon!
