The Doctor is coming to platform gaming in 2012. That’s right, BBC has announced Doctor Who: The Eternity Clockas a digital download release on PSN for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita, and as a PC digital download. It is considered the first in a brand new game trilogy, which will revolve around the “Eternity Clock” and WILL be available here in the US. The game, developed by Supermassive Games, features The Doctor and River Song as the playable characters, and yes, they will be voiced by Matt Smith and Alex Kingston. The game will include a number of the “best monsters” from the Doctor Who universe, and include Vita specific features.
The game is set in one place, but will span across multiple time periods, where changes that are made in one time will impact another, which will create multiple possibilities and challenges as the player plays through the game.
The game will have HD graphics, including “television quality scenes” and “highly realistic” character designs, all within a whole new storyline developed specifically for the game. Check out the first teaser trailer below, and see if you can decide who/what the “eternity clock” is. As for me, I think I’m going to have to consider getting a PS3 or PS Vita in the near future.
White The BBC hasn’t announced a release date yet, a note on Supermassive’s website suggests Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is being prepared for the PlayStation Vita’s launch in late February.
