Could another death be looming in the world of The Walking Dead?

It was reported this past weekend that Jon Bernthal, who plays Shane on the show, is in talks to star in L.A. Noir, a time period crime drama for TNT, which is being developed by Frank Darabont. For those not in the know, Frank Darabont was suddenly fired from The Walking Dead back last fall.
Although the show has continued to separate itself from the comic book, Shane has way outlived is counterpart. After the “shocking” resolution of the Sophia storyline at the midseason finale, one would expect another shocking resolution for the season finale. One storyline that has been building, since last season, has been Shane’s gradual development into a darker, more erratic character, and I can see it coming to a conclusion at the end of the season.
If Shane is to meet his end, the question is who or what would be at the end of his demise. There are plenty of people with motivation, and no doubt that list could grow with the new episodes. However, with the release of the midseason teaser trailer, we get a quick glance at one character, being very ominous to his comic book counterpart, makes me think, that although Shane has lived much longer, his fate is still the same as it was in the comic. I have a few more theories of things that could go down, but will save them for when the season returns, on Sunday, Feb 12 at 9 pm on AMC.
