The Amazing Spider-Man Viral Campaign Moves Forward

Earlier this week, we highlighted the site MarkoftheSpider-Man.com as marking the launch of the viral campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man. Since then, nothing had happened, well this evening has proven to start moving things forward.

It started with the viral site’s Twitter feed tweeting longitude and latitude coordinates, which pointed to direction of certain local comic book shops with the message “Property of Peter Park…Lost”

Once found, the feed updated the locations with a new message stating the Peter Parker’s property had been found

The lucky fans that got to go to these shops found a backpack, with a tag reading “Property of Peter Parker” inside the backpack were shoes, goggles, sunglasses, keys, drawing pencils, a notebook with notes and sketches (including some nice nods to fans) two textbooks, film canisters, photo contact sheets, newspaper clippings and more. The newspaper clippings were key, as one contained a black box containing a note from Spider-Man’s apparent supporters (Above left). The lines of text were placed in a strange way, and by taking the first letter of each line, lead people to MarkoftheSpider-Man/prepare

That website only contained the following graphic.

If you look, you can see it’s a code, or combination related to the six boxes on the front page of MarkoftheSpider-Man. If you took the code that you’re given in that image, and click the boxes on MarkoftheSpider-Man in the designated order, the site was updated with cities and countdown timers.

Each timer is different, and point to the first timer running out at 10am EST on Tuesday in New York, followed by Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, and finally Los Angeles.

After receiving the new trailer just last week, its anyone’s guess what will happen once these countdowns reach zero. My guess is that it will relate to Spider-Man’s supporters, who are the one’s that spray paint the spider symbols in the movie. While everything seems to point to something related to them, what the actual result will be, is anyone’s guess.
