UPDATED – What do we now know about the Lizard?

MLP February 14, 2012 0

The new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has giving us our first glimpses of the Lizard in the film.  From the quick glances that we get, what can we assume?

Different Hands

While it was shown by the pool toy, its obvious in the clips that the Lizard will have his left hand with 5 fingers and his right with 4.  Remember, Dr Connors had his right hand amputated, so when he regenerates this hand, looks like he only gets 4 digits. [click to see larger]

And the pool toy for another look.

He’s BIG

Of course you would assume that the Lizard would have a good size to him, but I’m not sure too many people were expecting him to be this big.

He’s Intelligent

With the rumors of the SWAT team being turned into Lizard type people, further fueled by the toys sets announced a while back, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the movie version of the Lizard retains at least some intelligence and simply isn’t a crazed monster.  You can see him carrying a bag in the shot of him tipping the police van over, suggesting he’s collecting or carrying something, along with what appears to be setting up a machine on top of the tower. (The neogenic recombinator?) Check out the picture above to see what appears to be the same machine.

And could the intelligence lead to this?

He looks like the original Ditko design

I know not everyone is happy about this, but it looks like the Lizard, while huge and cool looking, has taken on the head/face similar to the original Ditko design, where he doesn’t have much in the way of a snout, and still appears somewhat humanoid.

UPDATE

Thanks to the 2012 Toy Fair in New York, we’re leaning a little more about the look of the Lizard

He has very human looking teeth, but will have an extended mouth.

From the looks of the bust, it looks like the Lizard will not have the sharp teeth that he is typically associated with.  However, it does look like his mouth as a whole is a lost less human looking as its extended out.

He MIGHT have some type of camouflage/chameleon ability

Look at the pictures of the figure below, notice the legs?  They’re transparent, which to me suggests some type of chameleon ability, which to my knowledge the Lizard has never had in the comics.  Do you feel this is a good or a bad change?

The Lizard WILL talk

While some might already know this, I realized I didn’t have this on here.  For an interview with MTV, Rhys Ifans showed off his voice for the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man.  It’s not known if this will be the final voice we hear, but regardless, the Lizard does in fact speak.
