Mark of the Spider-Man Scavenger Hunt–FINAL UPDATE

UPDATE 12: The website has now been updated with all the feeds from all 6 cities.  We also got a new scene from the film thanks to all this too, you can check that out here.

UPDATE 11: The website has been updated with feeds for both L.A. and Denver, we’re down to two more cities tonight.  So what do you think, will anything happen once all six city events happen, or will this be the end of this phase, and we’ll have to wait for the next?

UPDATE 10: Photos of the events in L.A. and Denver are popping up on Twitter with the #markofthespiderman hash tag.

UPDATE 7: Looks like some of the first pictures are showing up on Twitter on what’s been going on with the event in Atlanta:

First off, from @dag_kurt showing people holding up stencils and the end result

The following came from @GuestUser17 apparently a unique print given to all participants

UPDATE 6: Looks like events will be occurring in the six cities on different dates.  So far it looks like:

Seattle and Atlanta – Weds

Denver and Los Angeles – Thurs

New York and Phoenix – Friday

UPDATE 5: The people that have found the packages have started receiving their phone calls.  Thanks to SHH user SpideyForPrez we have a generalization of how the phone calls go:

I just got a call on my Spider phone from a very, very serious Spider-Man supporter who gave me some detailed instructions, as follows:
-I was told that the call was in reference to Spider-Man.
-I was asked to verify my name, which was taken when I picked the package up.
-I was then asked to confirm that I got my phone in Seattle.
-I was then told that I will be needed sometime after 8PM tomorrow night, and asked if I could make it, which I can.
-He then told me that I will be called at a random time tomorrow to receive further instructions about the exact location.
-I was then told I would need to bring a friend and that we would need to wear the two hoodies given with the phone, and that we both need to be 18 years old. Also, that we’ll be outside a few hours and will need to dress warmly.
-I was then asked if I understood the instructions, I confirmed I did.
-I was then asked to repeat the instructions, I did.
-I was then told I would be called tomorrow and that I should be ready to accept the call at any time. He then closed the call with “For Spider-Man!” and I replied back with my own “For Spider-Man!” and we ended the call.

UPDATE 4: All packages have been claimed and the website has been updated to show that, along with the following message:

All operatives have been selected and are standing by for further communication.
Stay vigilant, we will be in touch over the next couple of days.

UPDATE 3: User RealIrOnMaN over at the Superhero Hype! Boards has posted a photo showing what the packages contain

Looks like people will be getting calls or texts giving them instructions, and saying to keep the hoodie (which is sweet) and to give the other to someone they trust gets me thinking that it will be some type of meeting for the Spidey supporters.  Where else this goes is anyone’s guess right now.

UPDATE 2: New York has had all five found and nothing has happened on its static screen, so looks like we’ll have to wait and see if anything changes once everything is found.

UPDATE: The Twitter accounts for the cities are: New York: @nycwebslinger, Atlanta: @caughtinatlweb, Denver: @Webbedindenver, Phoenix: @phoenix4spiderm, Seattle: @Seattlewebheads and Los Angeles: @Spidermanmarkla

We’ve been updating you on the viral campaign for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man and today those countdowns we showed you reach zero. The question is, once they reach zero, then what?

Well it looks like that once they reach zero, a scavenger hunt in the city begins, and you get the locations by following a Twitter account that’s associated with that city.

So far we have for New York @nycwebslinger and Atlanta @caughtinatlweb

At the time of writing this, New York and Atlanta have already reach zero and started the hunts, and over on MarkoftheSpider-Man.com they each show a status of “1 of 5” leading to the conclusion that each city will have 5 locations to go to. What are the prizes? It seems to be sweatshirts and cellphones from rumors online.

This whole thing is being played out as from the supporters of Spider-Man. The MarkoftheSpider-Man site now has the following below the 6 static screens:

So, you’ve found us.
If you support us, if you support Spider-Man, now is your time.
Follow the Twitter accounts of our operatives in each of these cities. They’ll tell you where to go to uncover the next step. For this pursuit we ask that you please be over the age of 18.
Be safe, and good luck. We’re counting on you.

What will happen to the static screens once all 5 locations/items have been found?  Its anyone’s guess.  Check back here for more updates as the scavenger hunts move forward.
