Childhood Comic Collection bring $3.5M

A comic collector’s dream collection went up for auction in New York City Wednesday.  Including copies of 1938 Action Comics No. 1, the first appearance of Superman, 1939 copy of Detective Comics No 27, featuring the debut of Batman, and 1940’s Batman No 1 were just a few of the comics that were part of Bill Wright’s collection, which sold for about $3.5 million.    Wright passed away in 1994, but the collection of 345 comics was just recently found by relatives while they were cleaning out the home of his widow when she passed last February.

Detective Comics No 27 was the top draw, bringing in $523,000.

So if anyone needs proof to their mother not to throw out things, here is a perfectly good reason.
