The Latest Doctor Who News Roundup

MLP February 22, 2012 0

Its been a while since a news roundup related to Doctor Who, specifically related to the show and not to other things such as the game or comic, so for those not in the know, here are some news highlights.  Some you might have already seen/heard and some might be news to you.  And as always, feel free to comment in the comments section below.

  • Filming for Series 7 began this week, Monday the 20th to be more precise.
  • The first photo from filming was released this week, features Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill.

imageSeries 7 is proving to have a number of guest stars, some have already been named, including: David Bradley (Argus Filch in the Harry Potter movies), Rupert Graves (Lestrade in Sherlock), and Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter movies)

  • Alex Kingston will be reprising her role as River Song, and the composer remains the same, in Murray Gold

Additional Series Notes:

  • There will be two monsters from the classic series making appearances.  (We’ve already mentioned one before)
  • Moffat has stated that there will not be any two-parters, and that there will be “at least” 14 episodes in series 7
  • At least one episode will be filmed in Spain and will feature Rob Cavazos playing a character named Walter.
  • Karen Gillan wants Amy’s exit from the series to be final, and has not interest in pulling a “Rose”
  • IGN recently had a poll asking who fans would want to see as the Doctor’s next companion, and the overwhelming favorite turned out to be Emma Watson from Harry Potter fame, with Zooey Deschanel (my current celebrity crush) coming in second.
