Cloverstrike

Have you seen the first trailer for Bruce Timm’s latest creation, Batman: Caped Crusader? It’s finally here, and let me tell you, it offers a thrilling first look at this fresh take on Batman and his infamous rogues’ gallery.

For all you die-hard fans of the original Batman: The Animated Series, this new show promises to be a must-watch. It captures the same gritty tone and aesthetic, but with a darker edge that’s sure to captivate.

The series’ description sets the stage perfectly: “Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant, and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.”

Timm has shared that this series brings his original vision to life, saying, “It kind of goes back to the original principles of the show that we originally came up with in the early ’90s. There were certain limitations on what we could do in terms of adult content; in terms of violence and adult themes.” He added, “My idea is basically to say, ‘OK, it’s 1990 again, I get to do what I want to do this time, and I got JJ and Matt backing me up.”

The cast is stellar, featuring Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass) as Batman, Christina Ricci as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jamie Chung as Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, and former Batman voice actor Diedrich Bader as Harvey Dent/Two-Face.

Joining them are Minnie Driver, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, John DiMaggio, McKenna Grace, Jason Watkins, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment, and Toby Stephens.

With Timm, J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and comic writer Ed Brubaker at the helm, this series has been eagerly anticipated for quite some time.

Mark your calendars for August 1st because Batman: Caped Crusader premieres on Prime Video. This is one series you won’t want to miss!
