It was announced today that Emmy and Tony-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast of Doctor Who!
Yes, you read that correctly. Harris has previously worked with showrunner Russel T. Davies on It’s a Sin, so this isn’t necessarily an “out of left field” type of casting, however, it could be argued that this is the biggest Hollywood star to join the cast of Who.
NPH is currently shooting scenes that will air next year as part of Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. Outside of an image shared of his character, the only other piece of information revealed that he is in fact playing an enemy of the Doctor.
As Russel T. Davies said himself:
“It’s my huge honour to open our studio doors for the mighty Neil Patrick Harris..but who, why, what is he playing? You’ll just have to wait. But I promise you, the stuff we’re shooting now is off the scale. Doctor beware!”
