Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace is turning 25, and with the film’s 25th anniversary, comes a return to theaters.
The Phanom Menace originally hit theaters in 1999, the first new Star Wars film since the release of The Return of the Jedi in 1983. To say that excitement quickly turned to decisive disappointment would probably be a bit of an understatement. While the film had its flaws, no one can deny the impact of characters introduced during that film, including Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn.
You will be shocked to learn that The Phanom Menace is set to return to theaters on the weekend of May 4th. (I mean, when Star Wars Day lands on a Saturday, it’s hard not to do SOMETHING I suppose.)
Along with the re-release announcement, the film also has received a brand new poster for the 25th anniversary, created by artist Matt Ferguson, which you can check out below.
