Paramount+ has released the new official trailer for their next Star Trek show, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The new series is set to engage on the streaming service on May 5th, and based on the trailer above, promises to take the crew of the USS Enterprise and Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) to just that – strange new worlds.
With Mount’s Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn’s Number One, and Ethan Peck’s Spock reprising their roles from Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery, we’re sure to see more continuity questioning adventures as the new show is set decades before the original series and Captain Kirk. Along for the new ride are Cadet Uhura (Celia Rose) and a completely random and randomly named La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong).
All joking aside, just like with all the previous Star Trek shows on Paramount+, Strange New Worlds looks to be visually stunning. I am a fan of Mount’s Captain Pike as he was a highlight of Discovery’s second season, so I’m looking forward to this latest addition to the Star Trek canon. Plus, with the show already receiving a second season and casting their James T. Kirk, there are clearly big plans for this new show. Hopefully, it will live up to the hype that this new trailer is so dearly trying to convey.
The trailer is above, but the title of this post also mentioned the new poster, which you can check out below. It features the rest of the cast conveniently standing in front of that shiny NCC-1701.
